Miles Davis
May 26, 1926 Alton, Illinois- September 28, 1991

Miles Davis was the premier jazz trumpeter of the Twentieth century. He began recording in the Fifties, recorded fusion classic Bitches' Brew at the same time as the Woodstock Festival was being held in upstate New York in August 1970. Bitches' Brew utilized the talents of John McLaughlin, a guitarist who played in a style comparable to Hendrix, although less blues-inflected.
In 1970, Alan Douglas set up a session with Davis and Hendrix, but at the last minute Davis demanded (and was refused) $500,000. Miles Davis appeared at the Isle of Wight Festival in September 1970, as did Hendrix, Cox and Mitchell- the Jimi Hendrix Experience of 1970.
