Born- Peckham, South London, March 1933- 1973 Mike Jeffery managed the Animals during their hit-making years as part of the British Invasion. When the original Animals broke up, and Chas Chandler went looking for an act to manage, Jeffery carried on managing the next Burdon-fronted Animals. When Chandler brought Jimi Hendrix to London in 1966, he and Jeffery formed Yameta Corporation, a management company that had as its clients: The Animals, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the Soft Machine, and eventually, Fat Mattress, Noel Redding's side group. Jeffery contributed 'heavy foot-thumping' to Axis: Bold As Love track, If Six Was Nine. Jeffery died in 1973, in a mid-air collision. |
