Eight Notes for Wii-mote by CEnsR (directed by Jordan Munson)

This is a low fidelity video of a live performance by the group CEnsR (Computer Ensemble for Research). CEnsR is an I.U.P.U.I. laptop ensemble dedicated to the research and development of computer music performance practices. This video shows the group using the Nintendo Wii remote to communicate with Max/MSP/Jitter through Bluetooth technology. The piece is an updated look at the traditional handbell choir.

Music 390 - Jazz for Listeners

Music 390 - Jazz For Listeners

An examination of the components of jazz, how to listen to jazz, and how to relate jazz to the social/cultural environment in which it was created. Class lectures/discussions enhanced with live performances and videos of major artists such as Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane.

The class meets Summer I Tuesday-Thursday 1:00-2:40.

The deadline for registering for Summer I courses is May 15 5:00pm. However, being one of the most popular Jazz music courses, this Jazz for Listeners course fills up quickly! So get started and register for it as soon as possible!

Telematic Ensemble

The Music and Arts Technology Department at IUPUI will present new and cutting-edge ensembles in performance on Thursday April 30 at 7:30 pm at IUPUI. The concert will occur in the Concert Space, Room 152, Informatics and Communication Technology Complex at IUPUI, 535 W. Michigan St. Indianapolis. Admission is $5. The Telematic Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Scott Deal will present original works written by the ensemble students and their collaborators.

About Telematic Arts

Telematic art synthesizes mediums such as live music, dance, drama and visual arts with Internet-based interactive media and performance content. The resulting productions connect media spaces to the real world to create powerful and evocative experiences. Performing with the Telematic Ensemble online will include the Rensselayer Institute of Technology Telematic Circle under the direction of Pauline Oliveros, and music technology students at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign under the direction of Dr. Guy Garnett.

Also performing on the telematic concert will be the Indianapolis-based new music ensemble BASILICA, under the direction of Ben S. Jacob.
