A collaboration on telematic performance research has begun between the Tavel Arts Technology Center at IUPUI and faculty at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, Norway.  Professor Scott Deal, Director of the Center, was invited to Norway in June 2009 for meetings and musical performance sessions with a multi-disciplinary group consisting of computer performer, percussionist, electric violinist, dancer, motion tracking specialist and IT technicians.  Deal and the group, led by composer and Professor of Music Ivar Frounberg and percussionist Kjell Tore Innervik, also a professor at the Academy; performed together with musicians at IUPUI in the Tavel Lab.  Two more events occurred in the following weeks, a concert between the group in Oslo and the musical trio Big Robot at IUPUI.  Big Robot is an electro-acoustic, computer assisted chamber ensemble consisting of Scott Deal and faculty members Jordan Munson and Michael Drews.  The final event was a demonstration/performance for the Norwegian Minister of Research and Higher Education.
